About Us
We are Edinburgh’s all-women samba band. Inspired by the seductive rhythms of Brazil, our aim is to create a carnival atmosphere at festivals and events across Scotland. We perform traditional and original pulsating grooves, from the fast paced batucada beats of Rio to the rolling rhythms of Bahia. The result? A dynamic melting pot of rhythmic energy guaranteed to liven up any community or corporate event!

Our Background
Commotion was formed in 1995 as part of an International Women’s Day event. Since then, the group has enabled hundreds of women of all ages and backgrounds to come together to learn and enjoy Brazilian samba drumming. Commotion is a registered charity and all funds raised support our teaching, community workshops, instruments and costumes. We continue to welcome new members – why not join us?
